On the evening of August 12, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Anaheim Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 900 block of North Siesta Street, a residential area south of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway. Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old Anaheim resident Christopher Monge unresponsive in front of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel provided immediate first aid before transporting Monge to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Following an extensive investigation spanning several weeks, Anaheim Police homicide detectives identified two adult suspects and one juvenile suspect in connection with Monge's death. On September 20, 2024, authorities arrested 30-year-old Oscar Daniel Aguilar and 33-year-old Daidar Martinez, both residents of Anaheim, along with an unnamed juvenile male. The arrests were made on suspicion of murder, with the incident believed to be gang-related.
Subsequent reports revealed that both Aguilar and Martinez face charges including murder with special-circumstance allegations of shooting from a vehicle and gang activity. Additionally, they are charged with sentencing enhancements for a gang-related vicarious shooting causing great bodily injury. Martinez has a documented criminal history dating back to 2011, with prior convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and participation in gang activity.
