Death by Force

George Merkel White, a 32-year-old Special Officer with the Oakland Police Department, tragically lost his life on November 25, 1907. Officer White was on duty when he encountered a robbery in progress. As he attempted to intervene, he was shot and fatally wounded. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. His death was a significant loss to the Oakland Police Department, where he had served since July 1906.
