Dennis Gibson, aged 30, was tragically murdered on November 19, 1981, near Yermo, California. His body was discovered in the rugged desert terrain of Odessa Canyon, west of Calico Ghost Town. The area was not easily accessible, making the discovery of his body by two hikers particularly significant.
