Chesley A. Stephens, a 33-year-old police officer with the Oakland Police Department, tragically lost his life on November 13, 1984, as a result of a gunshot wound sustained three days earlier. On November 10, 1984, Officer Stephens and another officer responded to a report of drug dealing in the 2600 block of San Pablo Avenue in Oakland, California.
