Jacorey Calhoun, a 23-year-old resident of Oakland, California, tragically lost his life on August 3, 2014, in a fatal encounter with law enforcement. The incident occurred in East Oakland when Alameda County sheriff's deputy Derek Thoms shot Calhoun. The sequence of events leading to the shooting began around 4 a.m. when Oakland police attempted to stop Calhoun, who was driving a silver 2001 Volvo linked to a home-invasion robbery that had occurred on July 12, 2014.
