On the first day of 2017, the life of 20-year-old Sheamon Jr. Perlie was tragically cut short in Baltimore, Maryland. In the afternoon, at approximately 3:15 p.m., police officers on patrol heard the sound of gunshots ringing out in the 1800 block of West Fayette Street. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered Perlie suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Despite the immediate response, he was pronounced dead at the location of the shooting.
The killing marked the first homicide of the new year in a city that would go on to see a significant number of murders in 2017. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement officials did not identify any suspects and appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest. The investigation into who was responsible for the death of Sheamon Jr. Perlie began with few leads.
Tragically, violence would once again strike the Perlie family. Just a year after Sheamon Jr.'s death, his younger brother, Damon Jamal Perlie, was also killed in the same Baltimore neighborhood. As of now, there have been no publicly announced arrests or identification of suspects in the murder of Sheamon Jr. Perlie, leaving his case unsolved.
