Basilio Pablo Ramirez, a 38-year-old construction worker, was tragically shot and killed on May 3, 2015, in Oakland's Fruitvale District. The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. on the 1500 block of 39th Avenue. Ramirez was reportedly outside his home when he was approached by Vicente Prado-Rodriguez and Cinthia Gabriel-Martinez, both 19 years old at the time. The couple, who were involved in a robbery spree, confronted Ramirez.
During the altercation, Prado-Rodriguez shot Ramirez, who later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
