Kenji Jones, a 23-year-old resident of Richmond, California, tragically lost his life on August 2, 2015. Kenji was known for his advocacy within the LGBT community and his involvement with the RYSE Center, a local youth organization. On the night of his death, Kenji was shot in the head around 9:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Eighth Street. The incident left the community in shock and mourning, as Kenji was remembered as a bright light and a positive influence on many lives.
