Hilario Salazar, a 25-year-old Latino, was tragically shot and killed on May 30, 2016, in East Los Angeles. The incident occurred at approximately 9:55 p.m. at his home on the 600 block of South Ford Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, Salazar was at home with his family when two men approached the door. Witnesses reported that Salazar spoke to the men through a security door, and a discussion about money ensued.
During this exchange, multiple shots were fired, one of which struck Salazar in the upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:07 p.m. The attackers, described only as Latino adults, were last seen running north on Ford Boulevard. No one else in the home was injured during the incident.
