On June 14, 2016, 31-year-old Brian Rush was found dead on the porch of a residence in the 6600 block of Franklin Avenue in East Bakersfield, California. He had sustained at least one gunshot wound. The Kern County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and pronounced him dead upon arrival. The investigation quickly led to the arrest of his mother, 69-year-old Joice Rush, who was taken into custody and booked into the Sheriff's Office Central Receiving Facility.
