The Butte County Sheriff's Office identified Edward Gaston, 41, and David Tuttle, 73, as the primary suspects in Jagears' death. Both men, who lived with Jagears on a property in Oroville, were charged with murder. The investigation suggested that on the afternoon of May 6, 2017, Jagears, Gaston, and Tuttle left their shared residence together, but only Gaston and Tuttle returned.
