In the spring of 2010, the city of New Orleans was grappling with a surge in violence, a grim reality that tragically engulfed the life of Ben Aaron Cooks, a 25-year-old African-American man. On Sunday, May 23, 2010, Cooks, known affectionately as 'Twin,' was killed, his death adding to the city's growing number of homicides that year.
