In the early hours of Mardi Gras Day, March 4, 2025, the life of 19-year-old Aidan C. Edsall, a male from New Orleans, Louisiana, was tragically cut short. His body was discovered by New Orleans Police Department officers inside an abandoned vehicle in the 2800 block of Monticello Avenue in the city's Hollygrove neighborhood. An investigation by the Orleans Parish Coroner's office would later confirm that Edsall had died from a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Aidan, who was born in Katy, Texas, was remembered by his loved ones for his infectious smile, deep laugh, and fierce loyalty to his friends. He had a passion for music, skillfully playing the drums and recently taking up the guitar. He also had a love for fast cars and was excitedly planning to attend school in Houston to train as a master mechanic. His untimely death occurred just days after his nineteenth birthday, sending a shockwave of grief through his family and friends who adored him.
The investigation into the homicide continued for over a month. On April 9, 2025, the New Orleans Police Department's Violent Offender Warrant Squad apprehended a suspect in connection with the case. A 15-year-old Black male was arrested in the 9300 block of Colapissa Street. The juvenile was subsequently booked on a charge of second-degree murder. Authorities have not released any information regarding a possible motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing as they continue to seek information from the public.
