On New Year's Day in New Orleans, a young man's life was cut short by gun violence. Kayron Hall, a 19-year-old male, was found unresponsive by New Orleans Police Department officers on the evening of January 1, 2025. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 7:20 p.m. in the 8500 block of North I-10 Service Road, officers discovered Hall suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
An investigation into the homicide led detectives to identify two suspects in the killing of Kayron Hall. On Thursday, January 16, members of the NOPD's Violent Offender Warrant Squad, along with the Federal Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested a 15-year-old juvenile on Dwyer Road. The following day, the same task force apprehended the second suspect, 18-year-old Caine Moore.
Both the juvenile and Caine Moore were subsequently booked on charges of second-degree murder. The juvenile was taken to the Orleans Juvenile Justice Center, while Moore was booked into the Orleans Justice Center. While arrests have been made, authorities have not yet released any further details regarding a potential motive or the specific circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. The investigation into the death of Kayron Hall is considered to be ongoing.
