Sergeant Ronald Lee 'Ronbo' Helus, a 29-year veteran of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, tragically lost his life on November 7, 2018, in Thousand Oaks, California. Helus was responding to an active shooter situation at the Borderline Bar & Grill, a popular venue frequented by college students. Upon arrival, Helus and a California Highway Patrol officer heard gunfire from inside the bar, which was occupied by nearly 200 people.
