Eric Joseph Solomon, a 30-year-old Black man, died on September 3, 2011, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

In the days that followed, loved ones gathered the pieces of what came next: arrangements made, family notified, and a community preparing to say goodbye. A funeral service was scheduled for the morning of September 17, 2011, at Israelite Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Boulevard, with visitation beginning shortly beforehand, and burial to follow at Providence Memorial Park.
