Bryan Jerome Woodson, a 35-year-old man, was tragically shot and killed on January 28, 2020, near West Oxnard Street and Aldea Avenue in Encino, Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, the incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. when officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Division responded to a call of shots fired at Lake Balboa Park. Upon arrival, officers found Woodson suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.
Despite paramedics' efforts, Woodson was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:45 p.m.
Witnesses reported that there was an argument between Woodson and another individual just before the shooting. Woodson, who was homeless and slept in the park, was involved in a confrontation that escalated to violence.
