In the autumn of 2012, the life of a young New Orleans resident was violently cut short. Hakeem Knox, a 21-year-old African-American male, was found on October 4, 2012, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The fatal incident occurred in the Sixth District of the city, a place that would become the final scene of his life. When emergency services arrived, there was nothing that could be done; Hakeem was pronounced dead right where he lay.
