On January 1, 2013, Antonio Llovet, a 28-year-old waiter and college student, was found shot to death in his home in New Orleans. The tragedy occurred on New Year’s Day, and his body was discovered by his parents, lying face-up on his couch in their family home in the Gentilly neighborhood. The Llovet family, originally from Cuba and El Salvador, was devastated by the loss.
