David Lee Tovar Jr., a 27-year-old resident of San Jose, California, died on January 21, 2021, in a police-involved shooting. Tovar was a suspect in a murder case and had a history of violent felonies. On the day of his death, undercover officers from the San Jose Police Department's Covert Response Unit attempted to arrest him at an apartment complex.
