On April 22, 2021, Alfredo Vargas, a 28-year-old resident of Lompoc, California, was tragically shot and killed. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on the 600 block of West Maple Avenue, near North N Street. Officers responding to a call about shots fired found Vargas in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to Lompoc Valley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The vehicle he was found in, a Chevy Malibu, had been reported stolen from Santa Maria two days prior and was later discovered burned off Ocean Avenue near Legge Avenue.
