Angel Danielle Brooks was born on December 15, 1993, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was 19 years old and had just moved into her own apartment with her two small boys at least a month before her death.

Around 12:16 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013, officers responded to a possible shooting at the Palmer Apartments, now known as the Choctaw Lodge Apartments, in North Baton Rouge.
