In the fall of 2016, a quiet home on the southwest side of Tucson, Arizona, became the scene of a grim discovery. On the evening of October 15th, Pima County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 5800 block of South Swinging A, off of South Camino Verde, following a report of two deceased individuals inside. Upon their arrival, authorities found the bodies of 48-year-old Carlos Rendon and 18-year-old Jackelyne Padilla.
Both victims had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
Investigations into the double homicide quickly pointed to a person of interest. Through interviews with witnesses, homicide detectives identified 49-year-old Raymond Manny Valencia as a suspect in the killings. The Pima County Sheriff's Department publicly identified Valencia and sought information from the community regarding his whereabouts. He was described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-4 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and distinctive tattoos on his neck and as sleeves on both arms.
Authorities believed Valencia to be armed and dangerous and indicated he might be driving a white Ford Ranger with placards for 'Gila Pool Service.' Shortly after the incident, it was reported that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the double homicide.
