Joseph J. Brock, a Special Agent with the FBI's New York Field Office, tragically lost his life on July 26, 1952, in the lobby of a New York City hotel. Brock was involved in the apprehension of Gerhard Arthur Puff, a notorious fugitive who was on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list. The FBI had received intelligence that Puff would be visiting the hotel, and a surveillance operation was set up to capture him.
