Customs Officer Roger L. Von Amelunxen, aged 41, tragically lost his life on July 30, 1980, in Queens, New York. Officer Von Amelunxen was shot and killed near the intersection of 72nd Street and 34th Avenue after he intervened in the robbery of a cab driver at around 3:20 am.
