On a tragic November night in 2022, Louis Darren Niles, a 40-year-old Black male from Queens, NY, lost his life in a violent encounter. The events unfolded on November 23rd, when police responded to a 911 call about a shooting in Springfield Gardens. Arriving at the intersection of 145th Drive and 184th Street, officers discovered Niles unconscious in the driver's seat of his 2018 Nissan Maxima, which had collided with a telephone pole. He had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest.
