In a tragic incident in Queens, New York, a 16-year-old male named Mario Young was fatally shot. The event took place in front of a KFC restaurant on Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway. Young, a resident of Point Breeze Place in Bayswater, was shot once in the head. He was rushed to St. John's Episcopal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Two days after the shooting, authorities made an arrest in connection with the case.
Shakeil Chandler, a 19-year-old from Dinsmore Avenue in Far Rockaway, was taken into custody. Following his arrest, Chandler was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of felony criminal weapons possession. At his arraignment, a Queens Criminal Court Judge ordered him to be held without bail. While Chandler was apprehended, police indicated that they were still searching for other individuals who may have been involved in the shooting.
