In the early morning hours of a mid-October day in Queens, New York, a celebration turned into a scene of tragedy. Nicholas Mahabir, a 32-year-old man, was with friends outside the Blend Lounge in Richmond Hill, continuing the festivities for his belated birthday. At approximately 4:15 a.m. on October 17, 2022, the celebratory atmosphere was shattered by the sound of gunfire.
