In a grim discovery in Queens, New York, the body of 31-year-old Kyle Danielson, a male, was found inside a garbage bag on a street in the Corona neighborhood on July 5, 2023. A foul odor emanating from the bag prompted passersby to alert the authorities. Responding officers discovered Kyle Danielson's decomposing remains wrapped in plastic bags and blankets; he had been shot in the torso and had suffered approximately 50 stab wounds to his head, neck, and chest.
The investigation
quickly led police to the family's home on the same block. About 12 hours after the initial discovery, officers found the body of Kyle's mother, 58-year-old Cheryl Myrick, inside the residence. She had been stabbed around 38 times in her neck and torso. The medical examiner would later determine that both murders occurred on July 4, 2023.
Suspicion fell upon Kyle's older brother, Roscoe Danielson, who was 40 years old at the time. Surveillance video captured a man, believed to be Roscoe, dragging the large garbage bag down the street and leaving it with other trash. Police apprehended Roscoe Danielson later on July 5th. At the time of his arrest, he was pushing his young son in a stroller, which had a bag hanging from the handle. A court-authorized search of the bag and stroller revealed a 9mm handgun and a knife.
Roscoe Danielson was arrested and faced a slew of charges, including two counts of second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and concealment of a human corpse. In September 2025, following a two-week trial, a jury convicted him on all charges. Subsequently, a Queens Supreme Court Justice sentenced Roscoe to 50 years to life in prison for the murders of his mother and brother.
