Gabriel P. Vitale, a 42-year-old police officer with the New York City Police Department, tragically lost his life on December 15, 1980, in Queens, NY. Officer Vitale and his partner were on foot patrol near the intersection of 35th Avenue and 150th Street in Flushing, responding to a burglary call. During their patrol, they encountered two suspicious men and attempted to question them.
