On the night of February 7, 2022, a dispute inside the Cozy Corner Bar and Lounge in the St. Albans neighborhood of Queens, New York, tragically escalated, leading to the death of 33-year-old Diquan Orr. A resident of St. Albans, Orr was a Black male who found himself in a fatal altercation that spilled outside the Linden Boulevard establishment. Around 11:30 p.m., following the dispute, Orr was shot once in the chest.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and Orr was rushed to
Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The immediate aftermath of the shooting saw the suspects flee the area in a dark-colored Nissan Sentra, heading eastbound on Linden Boulevard.
The New York Police Department's 113th Precinct responded to the 911 call and launched an investigation into the homicide. Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from the earlier argument inside the sports bar. In their efforts to identify those responsible, police released surveillance footage showing two men wanted in connection with the fatal shooting. Both suspects are described as men with dark complexions, estimated to be between 25 and 35 years old. One suspect was last seen wearing a white hooded sweater, a black jacket, black sweatpants, and black shoes, while the second suspect wore a black hooded sweater, black pants, and black shoes.
As of the latest available reports, no arrests have been made in the killing of Diquan Orr, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline. The case continues to be an active search for justice for Orr and his family.
