Lieutenant Jan Brinkers, aged 42, was tragically killed on May 4, 1981, in the Bronx, New York. Brinkers, an off-duty officer with the New York City Housing Authority Police Department, was inside a tavern on Jerome Avenue when three men entered and announced a robbery.
