In the early morning hours of a Monday in the fall of 1991, the vibrant life of a Queens woman was violently extinguished. Carmen Blanco, a 33-year-old female, was among four people who lost their lives in a hail of gunfire at a cocktail lounge in Jamaica, Queens. The tragic event unfolded on September 16, 1991, inside the J.I. Counters Inc. cocktail lounge, leaving a scene of chaos and bloodshed that would be remembered as a brutal act of violence in the borough.
