Nicholas "Nicky Black" Grancio, a Colombo crime family soldier, was killed on January 7, 1992, in Brooklyn, New York. His death was a result of an internal power struggle within the Colombo family, which erupted in the early 1990s when capo Vittorio Orena challenged the imprisoned boss Carmine Persico for leadership.
