Paul Heidelberger, a 28-year-old police officer with the New York City Housing Authority Police Department, tragically lost his life on July 18, 1992, in Queens, NY. On that fateful night, Heidelberger was off duty and out with friends in the Bayside neighborhood. He intervened to break up a fight outside a nightclub on Bell Boulevard.
