On September 2, 2023, at approximately 4:19 a.m., 31-year-old Queens resident Treva Sookmangal was fatally shot in South Richmond Hill. Responding to a 911 call, police discovered Sookmangal with a gunshot wound to his chest near 125th Street and 101st Avenue. He was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
