Death by Force

Corrections Officer Bruce Mayo, aged 27, tragically lost his life on October 4, 1993, in the Bronx, New York. Officer Mayo was off duty at the time of his death and was attempting to intervene in a fight outside a bar located at 2140 East Tremont Avenue. During this altercation, he was shot and killed. Officer Mayo had been serving with the New York City Department of Correction for six years and was assigned to the Rose M. Singer Center. He left behind a wife and son.
