Deputy Kevin Joseph Tarsia, a 36-year-old officer with the Broome County Sheriff's Office, tragically lost his life in the line of duty on July 4, 2002, in Kirkwood, New York. Deputy Tarsia was patrolling Grange Hall Park, near the New York-Pennsylvania border, when he encountered suspects involved in a burglary at a firearms store in Great Bend, Pennsylvania.
