On August 12, 2024, at approximately 10:58 p.m., Syracuse Police Officers responded to Upstate University Hospital following a report of a shooting with injuries. The victim, identified as 15-year-old Deron "Deej" McGee, had been transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
