On a summer evening in Brooklyn, New York, the life of 49-year-old Shem Walker, a male U.S. Army veteran, was cut short by a fatal encounter with an undercover police officer. On July 11, 2009, outside his family's Clinton Hill home, Walker noticed a man loitering on the front stoop. Unaware that the man was an officer conducting a 'buy-and-bust' operation in the vicinity, Walker confronted him.
