Emmanuel Barnett, a 21-year-old from Cambria Heights, tragically lost his life on March 16, 2014, following a violent incident at the Mint Restaurant & Lounge in Garden City, New York. On that fateful night, Tyshaun Phillips, also 21, opened fire into a crowded area of the restaurant, striking Barnett in the head. Barnett was immediately rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries five days later. Another victim, a 23-year-old man, was shot in the leg but survived the ordeal.
