In the early hours of Independence Day in 2007, a tragic event unfolded in a residential neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Donnell Doy, a 27-year-old African-American man, was fatally shot on July 4, 2007. The incident took place at approximately 1 a.m. in front of a residence at 5216 Just Street, NE. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene following reports of gunfire, they discovered Doy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
