In the early morning hours of a Saturday in the Bronx, tragedy struck, forever altering the lives of a local family. On June 11, 2022, Delijah Farmer, a 21-year-old male, was fatally wounded in a shooting that took place in Tremont Park. The incident occurred at approximately 3:23 a.m. near the corner of Arthur Avenue and East 175th Street.
Responding to a 911 call reporting a man shot, officers from the 48th Precinct discovered Farmer at the scene with a gunshot wound to his torso.
Emergency medical services were promptly dispatched and transported him to St. Barnabas Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Farmer succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting was immediately launched by the New York City Police Department. Crime scene detectives recovered a 9mm shell casing at the location. In the initial stages of the inquiry, it was reported that Farmer was uncooperative with detectives before he passed away.
