In the quiet village of Cornwall-on-Hudson, a grim discovery was made late on a Sunday night, shattering the local peace. Bryant Furchak, a 44-year-old male and a retired NYPD officer from the nearby town of New Windsor, was found with fatal gunshot wounds. His body was discovered near his 2008 gray Nissan Xterra on Church Street on August 24, 2014, just before midnight, after police received a call about an unresponsive male.
The Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department, assisted by the New York State Police, launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Furchak's death. A weapon, believed to have been used in the shooting, was recovered at the scene and was determined to belong to Furchak himself.
