In the Bronx, a 17-year-old male of Guatemalan Garifuna heritage, Kymani Woods, lost his life on the evening of April 10, 2023. The fatal encounter unfolded around 10 p.m. at the Burke Avenue subway station, which serves the 2 and 5 lines on White Plains Road in the Allerton section of the borough. Woods was on the elevated subway platform when he was approached by another teenager and three other individuals.
