On a late summer evening in Rochester, New York, the life of 32-year-old police officer Daryl R. Pierson was tragically cut short. On September 3, 2014, Officer Pierson, a respected member of the Rochester Police Department and a veteran of the Army National Guard, was involved in a foot pursuit of a suspect who had fled from a traffic stop. The man he was chasing was Thomas Johnson III, who was wanted for a parole violation.
