On July 12, 2023, at approximately 3:45 p.m., a fatal shooting occurred at the intersection of Genesee and Hopkins Streets in Rochester, New York. The incident began as a fistfight between two men, which escalated when one of the individuals, later identified as 20-year-old Stephan Jefferson, retrieved a handgun and shot 38-year-old Dwayne Hall Jr. at point-blank range in the chest. Hall was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
