In the heat of a Louisiana summer, on August 2, 2015, the life of 24-year-old Kevin Ford was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire in Baton Rouge. The male victim was not the only one to fall that day on Jefferson Avenue; he was accompanied in death by two other young men, Antoine Harris and Fredrick Corner, in what became a grim triple homicide investigation for the Baton Rouge Police Department.
The violent encounter left a neighborhood shaken and families grieving the sudden and brutal loss of their loved ones.
The investigation into the triple slaying led authorities to a single suspect, Jeremy Montrell Robertson. At the time of his arrest in connection with the Jefferson Avenue shootings, Robertson was 25 years old and already incarcerated at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on an unrelated charge. The culmination of the police work resulted in Robertson facing three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Ford, Harris, and Corner. In addition to these charges, he was also implicated in other homicides, painting a picture of a violent history. Detectives announced that information had linked Robertson to a string of killings, and he faced additional charges of second-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
