In the late hours of a Wednesday night in Manhattan, the lobby of the Times Square Hotel on West 43rd Street became the scene of a tragic and violent end to a relationship. Brandi Quijano, a 26-year-old woman, was fatally shot in the leg and torso. The incident, which occurred around 10:45 p.m., was determined by police to be a murder-suicide.
Quijano and her 29-year-old boyfriend, both residents of the hotel, were in the lobby when the man opened fire on her.
Immediately after shooting Quijano, he turned the gun on himself, sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Both were rushed to Bellevue Hospital, but their injuries proved fatal, and they were pronounced dead.
The investigation into the deadly encounter identified Quijano's boyfriend as the perpetrator. While law enforcement identified the woman as Brandi Quijano, the name of the man who killed her was not immediately released to the public. The case was concluded as a murder-suicide, with no outstanding suspects.
