In the early hours of a Sunday morning in March 2015, a tragic story began to unfold on a secluded street in the Glendale section of Queens. Twenty-one-year-old Jordan Santos was found inside his 2002 Lexus RX300 with a gunshot wound to his neck. Police responded to a 911 call shortly after 2 a.m. on March 22nd and discovered the grim scene on Edsall Avenue.
Paramedics rushed Santos to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, but his life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The investigation into the death of the young Flushing man quickly revealed a story of betrayal. Authorities determined that Jordan Santos, a male, had been lured to the quiet street by an acquaintance. Less than 24 hours after the fatal shooting, an arrest was made. Jordan Paulino, a 17-year-old from Ozone Park, was taken into custody. She faced charges of manslaughter, conspiracy, and hindering prosecution for her alleged role in the plot that led to Santos's death.
According to the Queens District Attorney's office, Paulino was part of a plan with several other individuals to cause serious physical injury to Santos. It is alleged that she convinced Santos to drive to the Edsall Avenue location between 2:00 and 2:30 a.m., where an accomplice was waiting. Once there, an assailant fired a single shot into Santos's neck and another into his torso. Following the shooting, Paulino and the others involved fled the scene. While Paulino was apprehended, the gunman and other male accomplices remained at large, prompting a continued search by law enforcement who urged anyone with information to come forward.
